National Geography Bee


After Thanksgiving, we will hold preliminary round competitions in each class for the National Geography Bee sponsored by National Geographic.

Class winners will then compete in a playoff round to determine Grade Level champions prior to Winter Break.

2012-13: Jared Ruehr, 8th Grader
2011-12: Christian Ward, 8th Grader
2010-11: Michael Durkin, 8th Grader
2009-10: Phil Ellis, 8th Grader
2008-09: Michael Durkin, 6th Grader

The School Championship between the 10 students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades who have the highest scores in the playoff round will be held after Winter Break.

THE 2016-17 SCHOOL GEOGRAPHY BEE FINAL WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25, 2017 STARTING AT 2:45 IN MRS. SCHOFIELD CARTER'S ROOM.

Our school champion will take a written test that will be scored in Washington D.C. The top 100 scores from school champions in each state will compete in their state championships in March. State champions will then be flown on an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. to compete in the National Championship in May. The National Champion and runners up win significant college scholarships.
